Poon Hill Trek Day 5 - Ghandruk to Kimchi

On the last day of our trek I woke up sore all over. I spent about 30 minutes stretching before I could really walk around properly. At breakfast Sohm saw we walking carefully down the stairs and said he was feeling the same. Then I saw Tom going down the stairs like someone twice his age and I felt better. After awhile everything loosened up again, but I was definitely more careful about going downhill, which is what all of today was about.

The morning view before starting off was, once again, incredible.

It was our last day and we only had a three hour downhill hike to the village of Kimchi where we would eat lunch and meet Ashish to drive us back to Pokhara.

We took about a thousand stone steps out of the village of Ghandruk and then we saw our first bus stop in days. We walked along a very dusty road for a bit until we turned off into another small village and then wove through terraced farms for the rest of the trek downhill. It was completely charming and very different than what we had seen so far.

We finished the hike in disbelief. The kids all said it was harder and also better than they expected.

Jimmy is already planning his next hike. He wants to do Annapurna Base Camp next.

Ashish was waiting for us at Kimchi. We drove the two hours back to Pokhara happy and feeling accomplished.

We celebrated at Roadhouse pizza in Pokhara.
